Hi everyone! I figured it’s long past time for an update on my #12projectsin12months initiative I started a couple months back. (If you’d like to read the intro and get an idea of my “why” for this idea, here is the original post!)
At first, I was planning on doing an actual tangible art-related project each month, but after I thought about it some more, I decided to modify the idea a bit. Instead, I’m going to focus on doing or improving on something I have been wanting to try or have done in the past but let fall by the wayside. Here is what I have completed or planned so far:
August – Singing. I love to sing, but haven’t really put much into it in years. I was in choir all through school and even a semester in college, and sang in a couple of church choirs as an adult. Unfortunately, I decided to stop singing in the choir a few years ago because I had a really hard time with the late evening mid-week practices – one of my biggest anxiety triggers is not getting enough sleep, and I’d work myself up way too much about it. I really missed it, though, so when a church member approached me about singing in a women’s quartet this summer, I was ecstatic! We had a great time, and I think the piece turned out really well. We did “Before the Throne of Grace” by Point of Grace – it is a beautiful song with a beautiful message, and I’m so glad we were able to share it with the congregation.
September – Running. You all know the story of this already (recap in last week’s post) – I had been training for the Dogfish Dash since earlier in the summer, but the race was last week! Unfortunately, I had to slow down due to shin splints in my right leg, so I did not improve my time from the past couple of years. However, I did still finish in under an hour, and it was, as always, a great experience.
October – Lettering. I’ve decided to practice my lettering every day in October, even if it’s only for a few minutes. I know it’s the only way to improve, and I am excited to see how much progress I make in a month!
That’s all I have for now – I have other ideas floating around, but will have to see where my mood takes me at the beginning of every month. I’m definitely open to taking ideas as well – feel free to comment with any ideas for me or for yourself!
