meal plan monday #4 and race recap!

Hi everyone – cheers to another week! Let’s make it a great one!

I am enjoying myself so far since I took the day off to recover from my crazy busy but super fun weekend. Hubs and I ran the Dogfish Dash yesterday with another friend of ours – it was hotter than we expected, but we all finished! Plus we got super awesome matching shirts for the occasion…

Game of Thrones reference, anyone? πŸ™‚

I finished in under an hour (which is usually my goal), but didn’t beat 55 minutes (which was my “reach” goal since I was close the past two years). I had some leg pain that slowed me down some, which I now realize is shin splints in my right leg… no fun at all. I’m proud of myself for still finishing in under an hour despite that! I will just need to rest and recover for awhile, and take care to prevent it next year.

After a much needed shower (I booked an extra night at the hotel just so we could go back and shower, haha!), we started to head back towards the DC area. Instead of going straight home, though, we made a stop in Maryland to see Hanson in concert! Yes, MMMBop Hanson πŸ™‚ They are still making music (20 years since MMMBop, and 25 years overall), and I still love them. They put on a heck of a show, and played a great mix of their older and newer stuff. We didn’t get home until after 11, so I’m glad I had already taken today off – I don’t do well without an adequate amount of sleep, haha. This morning, we went out for breakfast and picked up the pups, then stopped at the dog park on the way home so they could run off some energy. I have an appointment this afternoon, and will stop to get groceries on the way home, then finish grading Geometry tests while dinner cooks in the Instant Pot. Back to reality, I guess – it was a great weekend, though!

Here are my meals for the week:

  • Instant Pot beef stew (new recipe for me to try – I will let you all know how we like it!)
  • spicy chicken bowls (this was on the plan last week but we didn’t end up having it)
  • chicken thighs with a frozen side
  • brinner (scrambled eggs, bacon, avocado toast)
